Sunset Bay, NY lives up to its name. As someone who has traveled all over the world, Sunset Bay is the best spot in the world for sunsets. You can enjoy the view from the beach or even better, walk out on the break wall.
About the Bay
Our family has a cottage at Sunset Bay, NY, a town located just 30 minutes south of Buffalo where we spend a few weeks during the 4th of July holiday. This trip has been our family tradition for over 35 years. The community mostly consists of summer cottages and has beach access to Lake Erie.
The Food Options
The Bay has two restaurants and a cafe
Sportsman is an indoor and outdoor bar which serves mostly pizza and chicken wings.
Cabana Sam's is on the beach and has a full menu with Caribbean drink specials and weekly food specials. A live band plays oldies but goodies most nights. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset and have a drink.
The Sunset Bay Break Wall Cafe offers a breakfast and lunch menu and is located by the adjoining creek/marina.
There is also a deli, ice cream shop, and a shirt shack. There is a bar/dance club called the Beach Club also on the beach with live music and a couple of days a week they have morning stretching, yoga, Zumba or Pilates workouts for a small fee.
Getting around
This is a walking community with several folks owning golf carts. For boat launching, Hidden Harbor Marina is the marina we use.
The 4th
On the 4th of July you will see one of the best firework shows ever, sponsored by local families. We usually take our beach chairs and head to the beach at Sunset to watch the show and enjoy the many bonfires. It is absolutely amazing!
